Me in Fjiji - and other links
I lived in Fiji for
twelve years,
travelling the
many islands and
meeting ordinary
Fijian families.
I took these
photos in the old
days of black and
white
Cargo for outlying islands usually included some goats
and chickens. I would often sleep on deck (bottom left).
There were grounded and abandoned vessels like the one
below - me standing on deck and wishing it was mine.

seen from New Zealand television
The 1987 Coup
This is Rabuka's own story as
told to an old friend of mine Stan
Ritova. Pre-independence he
was known as Stan Whippy and
my sons were good friends at
school with his sons.
REFERENCE BOOKS ON FIJI THAT I LIKE
An excellent book is Peter France's 'The Charter Of
The Land'.
An old standard is 'Under The Ivi Tree".
And a good history is the Fiji Times' 'A History Of
Fiji" by Kim Gravelle.
